Building Employees Redundancy Trust (BERT) partners with IFS (Industry Fund Services)

February 2022

Building Employees Redundancy Trust (BERT) recently partnered with IFS to offer its members financial planning services.

General Manager of BERT Steven Hack explains that the Queensland-based redundancy trust created a financial planning company within the trust in partnership with IFS to further improve its services to members.

“Basically, we administer the trust on behalf of the members. Part of that is that we provide welfare and training benefits to the industry, including financial planning.

“Previously we were using an outsourced provider and recently we decided to bring that in-house.

“To facilitate this, we contacted IFS for licensing services, and it has been a seamless experience and a fantastic partnership.”

Steven says the initial training was fantastic.

“We haven’t had any issues whatsoever. It has been a smooth transition and the executive team at BERT felt really supported though the transition.

“Our planning staff have also been well trained by the IFS team. IFS is a great fit for us.”

Steven says the members-first and members-owned philosophy is important to us and IFS share the same values.

“What is fantastic, is that due to the partnership, BERT is improving in-house as we absorb IFS systems and best-practice procedures.

“The high level of compliance and over-seeing of all processes puts our team -and me- at ease, knowing everything is managed to such a high standard.”
